About COMED-K

The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, in their endeavor to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit of students wanting to seek admissions to the member institutions, have formed "Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka" – COMED-K.

The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED K) has been assigned the task of organizing a common entrance test for the academic year 2005-2006, for candidates aspiring to pursue Postgraduate courses in Medical and Dental studies in the state of Karnataka, in the colleges run by Private Medical and Dental Colleges who are the Member Institutions of the consortium. 

 

COMEDK is only responsible for the determination of merit and rank based on the test. The scores and ranks in the entrance test will be made available for use by the COMEDK Member Institutions to make admissions from among those who seek admission into the respective colleges / courses. COMEDK will function only as a testing body and does not undertake seat allocation. Candidates are required to make separate applications to the colleges of their choice as and when the colleges invite applications for seats to be filled up by the managements.

 

The list of the Member Institutions who have indicated that they are participating in the COMEDK testing program, along with the courses offered by them, is published on this website.

 

Note: COMED-K’s web site at http://www.comedk.org contains information and current updates / alerts. This site is updated regularly. COMEDK suggests all applicants to visit it frequently for relevant information.


Eligibility Criteria

    

 Degree / Diploma Programs:

  • Applicants must meet all the requirements stipulated by MCI / DCI. Accordingly, they should have successfully passed their M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. from an institute recognized by MCI / DCI, and must have completed / completing their internship by 30/04/05.

 MCI / DCI Norms:

  • Every student, selected for admission to the Postgraduate medical course in any of the medical institutions in the country, shall possess recognized M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. degree or equivalent qualification and should have obtained permanent Registration with the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India, or any of the State Medical / Dental Council or should obtain the same within one month from the date of the admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.
  • Provided that in the case of a foreign national, the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate training restricted to the medical college / institute to which the applicant is admitted for the time being exclusively for postgraduate studies; Provided further, that temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subjected to the condition that such person is duly registered as medical practitioner in his own country from which the applicant has obtained his / her basic medical qualification and that his / her degree is recognized by the corresponding medical Council or concerned authority.

Member Institutions

25 unaided, private Medical and Dental colleges affiliated to COMEDK, across the State of Karnataka, offer various courses in Medical and Dental studies at Postgraduate level. The courses offered at the postgraduate level include both the Degree and Diploma programs. The following Medical and Dental Colleges have indicated their willingness to make admission to their Postgraduate courses based on performance in the Common Entrance Test organized by COMEDK.

Fee Structure  

 

The Fee structure is to be decided by each member institution and they will notify the same independently. The same would also be made available on the COMEDK website, in respect of the institutions that make this information available to COMEDK. Each institution will notify their fee structure after it is finalized by the institution. COMEDK has no role in the fixation of fees.

However, the fee structure of each Member Institution will be the same for each course for all the candidates, irrespective of whether the merit determination is on the basis of COMEDK PGET-2005 or R.G.U.H.S. PGET-2005.

The process involves the following stages:

 

  1. Issue of Application forms
  2. Receiving of completed Application forms at the COMEDK office.
  3. Application Kits can be obtained by paying a Non-Refundable fee by way of a Demand Draft for Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only), drawn in favor of  "COMEDK ”, payable at Bangalore.
  4. Application Kits are availed by any of the following means:
    1. Apply online at the COMEDK website .Visit our website  http://www.comedk.org , for details and procedure. Online applicants will  receive their copy of the brochure along with their Test Admission Ticket.
    2. In person, at listed COMEDK member institutions.
    3. By post from COMEDK office.
  5. The completed Application Form has to reach COMEDK office at the following address:

    1. Attested Photocopy of Degree Certificate
    2. Attested Photocopy of Attempt Certificate
    3. Attested Photocopies of All marks cards (First Semester to Final Semester)
    4. Attested Photocopy of Valid Photo ID (Such as Driver’s License, Ration Card, Voters’ Identity Card, Passport or any other Photo ID attested by the Head of the Institution where you have studied M.B.B.S. / B.D.S.)
    5. Proof of Date of Birth

 

  1. Applicants are directed to go through the instructions carefully before filling the application forms. Applicants are requested to send the filled-in application form at the earliest to avoid any delay. Please do not wait until the last date to send in your forms.

 

  1. For all future correspondence with COMEDK PGET-2005, applicants need to quote their application number and TAT (Test Admission Ticket) number (if applicable).

Frequently Asked Questions

   

 What is the eligibility for the courses?

As prescribed by MCI / DCI, candidates who have passed their M.B.B.S. or B.D.S. from an institution recognized by MCI / DCI and have completed (or are expecting to complete their internship by 30/04/05) are eligible for the courses. Candidates should also meet other requirements as prescribed by MCI / DCI.

 

Is the Entrance Test open only to Karnataka students?

No, this test is open to all.

 

I have finished my M.B.B.S. a few years ago. Am I eligible for these courses?

You can apply for the notified courses, as long as you fulfill the basic eligibility as prescribed by MCI / DCI.

 

Is there and age limit for the courses?

There is no age limit for the courses.

 

Although I am eligible, I am currently enrolled in another course. Will I be permitted to join?

You are eligible to join as long as you have the basic eligibility as specified above.

  

I am interested in applying for certain courses, but these are not listed in the course list provided on the website.

The course list provided on this website is limited to only those courses offered by COMEDK Member Institutions.

 

What are the enclosures to be made along with the application?

Candidates are required to make the following enclosures to their application form.

1. Attested photocopies of Degree Certificate.

2. Attested photocopies of Attempt Certificate.

3. Attested photocopies of all Marks Cards (First Semester to Final Semester)

4. Attested photocopy of a valid Photo ID.

5. Proof of Date of Birth.

Any application received by COMEDK without the required enclosures will be liable for rejection.

 

What is the procedure of selection?

For the academic year 2005-2006, selections for seats to be filled up by the managements will be based on merit taking into account the performance of the candidates in COMEDK PGET-2005.

 

How will I know my test results?

The results will be intimated to the candidates individually. The same will also be available on our website (http://www.comedk.org), and also sent to all Member Institutions of COMEDK

 

Do I have to apply to COMEDK member institutions separately for admissions?

Yes, COMEDK conducts only the Entrance Test, and forwards the results to the Member Institutions. Hence, candidates are required to make applications to each of the individual Member Institutions of their choice for admissions before the stipulated date to be notified by each Member Institution.

 

What is the fee structure in the COMEDK Member Institutions?

The fee structure varies for each Member Institution, and will be as notified by each of them. The exact fee structure for each college will have to be ascertained from the respective institutions.

However, the fee structure of each Member Institution will be the same for each course for all candidates, irrespective of whether the merit determination is on the basis of COMEDK PGET or R.G.U.H.S. PGET.
